Group Home Manager

A group home manager works in a residential care facility that provides support and treatment for residents. Their responsibilities include:


  • Advocacy: Representing consumers’ medical health needs to their care team, family, and outside providers
  • Health Education: Teaching patients and their families about self-care and wellness
  • Coordination: Working with the consumer’s care team and other agencies to coordinate medical needs
  • Communication: Providing professional input to the youth's service team, such as during ISP reviews


Other duties may include:


  • Monitoring behaviors
  • Resolving disagreements
  • Performing drug testing
  • Ensuring communication between residents and families, law enforcement, and the community
  • Helping residents develop skills for independent living, such as hygiene and work-related skills
  • Providing transportation to appointments or job sites


Some group home residents may include adults with mental illness, seniors who need help while healing, or juveniles with behavioral issues or substance abuse concerns. Depending on the type of facility, group home nurses may also provide guidance on relationships, supervise or organize events, or accompany residents on trips.

Direct Support Professional for Weekends

Avid Quality Care seeks a direct support professional for a group home in Aubrey, TX. The position requires availability and commitment for the entire weekend, from 4:00 PM on Friday to 4:00 PM on Sunday. This is an overnight role that includes sleep staff responsibilities but requires presence at the home to provide sole care for the individuals throughout the weekend.


Candidates must be comfortable working with individuals with special needs and completing tasks such as managing incontinence, bathing, specialized diets, feedings, transfers, nonverbal communication, and tending to medical needs. Responsibilities include transportation, medication administration, digital documentation, meal preparation, laundry, and housekeeping.


The role involves caring for three individuals independently in a home-like setting, so strong communication skills and the ability to ensure their happiness, health, and safety are essential.
